Lyrics from Harvard

Here are some lyrics I wrote at Harvard this summer, about my first time being away from home for more than a few days. I never ended up turning it into a video, but I thought I might as well share them somewhere. :) Here I am, all alone For the first time in my life, I’m kind of on my own I’ve got freedom and it stings, I’ve got freedom and it rings Stings like a bumblebee or lemon juice, Or little tears of joy Rings like the reverb of a choir, An earache or a parakeet toy I have my microphone and ukulele with me I have a roommate and it feels so weird to say I have my hairbrush and a wide range of emotions And for the next two weeks, I am here to stay Here I am, in my dorm I have the number and the key, And a fan because it’s warm I’ve got freedom and it’s fine, I’ve got freedom and it’s divine Fine like the way your day is going, Or a little piece of string Divine like birds lining a tree branch Or the feeling of a playground swing I have my microphone and ukulele with me I have a roommate and it feels so weird to say I have my hairbrush and a wide range of emotions And for the next two weeks, I am here to stay Simultaneously crazy and normal simultaneously right and strange Simultaneously casual and formal Simultaneously in and out of range I have my microphone and ukulele with me I have a roommate and it feels so weird to say I have my hairbrush and a wide range of emotions And for the next two weeks, I am here to stay
